If Walls Could Speak

On August 15, 2023, I walked through the original home of Breathe Birth and Wellness for the last time and as bittersweet tears streamed down my cheeks, I thought to myself, if these walls could speak what would they say? I could almost hear this response…
When you found me, I was lonely, barren and without purpose. You saw past the cobwebs and blemishes from my past. In me you saw a future filled with so much more. You stripped me down to my core, etched scriptures on my walls, and declared me as a sacred space. You breathed new life into me.
You determined that all who passed through my doors would feel embraced with love, acceptance, and safety while facing the hard work of birth. Through our 5-year partnership, I witnessed over 500 tiny humans emerge and take their first breath and all that entails. I have housed the gamut of raw emotions that surround birth; joy, fear, elation, doubt, exhaustion, acceptance, and courage, to name a few. I have witnessed the strength of women as they chose to experience
the power of their body bringing forth new life. I have seen mothers heal from past trauma or loss, while embracing the sweet new life freshly emerged from their womb. I have watched families grow, couples become parents, and toddlers become siblings. If my walls could indeed speak, I would say thank you to those who entered my doors and allowed me the honor of holding the sacred space for birth.
Through this experience, I am forever changed!
